About exactly a year ago, we announced the partnership with Russia’s largest Internet company Mail.Ru Group. Today, we are happy to announce the next step of our cooperation. WOT is now integrated into Mail.Ru Group’s new browser called “Internet”, which will automatically bring WOT to the reach of millions of Russian web users.
“Internet” combines an intuitive user interface, versatile settings, and a wide selection of useful tools that make using the web safe and comfortable. One of these tools is the WOT safe surfing tool pre-installed into the browser. All users of “Internet” will get WOT automatically once Mail.Ru Group rolls out their update. We already see a nice jump in the Russian downloads, and expect the trend to continue.
“Mail.Ru has been using WOT technology as part of our email services for more than a year, and because our users enjoy the security and peace of mind, we have expanded our partnership with WOT and have integrated their reputation system in our newest browser,” said Andrew Kononykhin, Head of digital distribution department at Mail.Ru. “As the largest email provider in Russia and the largest Russian-language Internet company, we have a responsibility to protect our users while they surf the web as well as contribute to the trustworthiness of the web at large by supporting WOT’s crowd-sourced effort.”
To WOT, this is an extremely important strategic step towards the enormous Russian Internet market. We warmly welcome “Internet” users to the community!
