Bogus. This scam called "Home Advisor" incessantly cold-calls businesses so that they can strong arm local businesses into paying them to be placed on their "Home Advisor" website. In other words, "Home Advisor" provides nothing but junk information to those searching for home professionals, and they get paid for doing this by home professionals who feel they need to be on "Home Advisor" to get to the top of Google searches. Don't hire a professional who needs to pay "Home Advisor" to get work. Go by word of mouth to find home construction/design professionals. All the online advice is garbage, especially "Home Advisor." By the way, I put "Home Advisor" in parentheses because they have no place advising anyone about anything. They aren't even a local business. Even if they were legit, how could they give good advice about a place they have never been to or people they have never even met?

These people will begin SPAMMING you if you sign up with them. They have an unsubscribe system that is made to make people give up. After clicking and following their unsubscribe link TWICE, I kept getting emails from them. I contacted them and told them UNSUBSCRIBE ME. They actually wrote me back and say "Sorry, we can't find your account. Could you please give us your username and password so we could find the account associated with this email address?" They can't stop emails by simply stopping emails to a certain address?? BS

I have used Home Advisor for a number of projects. My experience with them has been good. Their recommended vendors are not the least expensive but all of them responded promptly to my request for service. Showed up when they said they would. Did the job well and cleanly, and dealt immediately with any concerns I had. I use them all the time.

This is an information gathering site. Also, they will be pimping outfits they have "special relationships" with. A better source for contractors is YELP for your city. YELP collects customer reviews for just about every service imaginable. No registration or signup needed to read all the reviews. Another option is Craigslist for contractors. Always check Craigslist offers with Better Business Bureau for your city.
