Le site order.1and1.com est-il sûr ?

My brother wanted me to pay on credit card for one of his client's websites. 1&1 ended up putting me as the account owner even though I was supposed to be paying for hosting services for one of my brother's clients. Big mess. 1&1 did not cooperate with me, and is continuing to charge me more 6 months later for someone else's website. When I wouldn't keep paying for someone else's website though I explained what was going on, they forwarded the amount to a debt collector. Would not do business with these people.

I decided to try 1and1 since they are having their "summer sale" a free domain for one year, followed by normal price of 9.99 there after. Well, the fees end up being 4.99 so it's not free. On top of that I waited over 24hrs and received an email from their "security" team asking me to send "verification of my identity" via email. They wanted that I scan a passport, state ID, previous bills, or other sources of verification before I could register my domain. Talk about an insecure privacy invasion! Thankfully I was able to back out. This was however nowhere mentioned on their site and I feel I had quite a poor experience.

Drupal doesn't even work with them. They set the PHP memory limit so low, my copy of drupal doesn't even run (it isn't even a large site, and only gets a few hits a day). Unlike any other host, you also can't change the limits set in the PHP.ini file. And when they say "90 day money-back guarentee" in big bold letters, they are full of it. Don't use them. Many complaints (check Hostjury for details). I found that even Hostmoster was better. I'm considering performing a chargeback because my site is unable to function! I'll also add that I have experience with over 5 shared hosts (and a few VPS's). 1&1 is easily the worst

They seem to have a different style of managing domain registrations then the rest of the industry. And it doesn't seem to work out in a positive manner. Their user ingterface is the worste I've seen. Check them out on the ***** page before you use them.

Extremely difficult to cancel. Customer retention techniques are shady. They send you to collections. They disable my account as one domain i refuse to renew !! and I lost all other domains in my account, do not try this service.
