My son was considering this place for enrolling, but it turned out that there is a scarce choice of colleges to get specialization. We were thinking of something about pharmacy, but would like to get into dental sphere. I didn't manage to find any relevant information about dental programs. Maybe they exist but the website didn't allow me to search for required programs thoroughly, navigation leaves much to be desired. Still, ratings of this university is enviable and it's a big advantage of studying here.

Namaste 1. News Item: New cyber edition of Rig-Veda from Univ. of Texas – Language Research Center. http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/RV/ <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/RV/> [The primary purpose of our online edition is to show the original linguistic and poetic style of the Rigveda, and to make the text accessible in this form and easy to read ]. - Karen Thomson and Jonathan Slocum. Relevance for Review: Veda-Samskrutham is Digestion is undergoing the advanced stage syndromes of `Digestion'. The outputs related to Veda-Samskrutham Digestion-progressed to this tertiary stage carry the following syndromes: (a) Text-Authority Distortion (Vikruti (b) Text-Authority-Process Dissection (vibhaaga /Anga Vikaara ) (c) Short –Partial Application of Rules for simplicity, causing Dilution ( Vikaara / viroopa) (d) Imbalanced and prejudicial perceptions and output interpretations (Durmati). The new genre documents like the one above for Veda-Samskrutham, are ` error- delusion – degeneration infested'.; built on inaccurate evidence, use of wrong authority-resource-approach and oblique perceptions' ( Ku-Drushti – durvyaakhyaa Visha moorchita) . The above text is one more on this line, coming up in the cyber space, using the acceleration force of Techno-linguistics and Sanskrit Computational linguistics . This brings in more complexities and challenges to Vedic studies, Practices based on Veda, Identities of communities anchored to Veda, Land-Language-Culture-History of a Nation identified as the land of Veda-Shastra. 2. Challenge Questions: What clinches `Original' Veda ? : Historicity or Spiritual / Mystic aura Or Ancient Language scholarship? Or something else? Who has the empowered authorization to edit and say the final word on a Vedic Resource (say like Gayatri Mantra)? Who holds a final say on What is to be included –excluded-modified in a `Critical Edition' of Text-scripted Veda ? How to authenticate a given document of Vedic Tradition for its claim ? What are the tools ? What is the weight to be ascribed to the established traditions of Six Vedanga's – Several Veda lakshana works – Vedanta Shastra's - Language Traditions of India – Living Masters of India – and the Identity of Veda accepting-practicing communities and a Nation built around the dharmic ideals in Veda are at Stake? What is original Veda and new Veda – like Old and New Testament ? This situation brooks open serious deliberations on the following lines of inquiry, all linked to `Digestion -Debate'. If you prefer you may jump to the Uni. Of Texas URL: . http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/RV/ <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/RV/> before coming back and exploring the additional notes and reasoned review placed below . Regards BVK Sastry 3. My Reasoned Review of the Univ. Texas Rig-Veda-Editing Cyber Enterprise: The web page gives the primary text referred to make the following reasoned review points. 3A: What is the Nature of Vedic Document: Traditional schools have always held that Veda are ` Transcendental Texts'; Historical language parameters and language-context-grammars can not be associated to it. Therefore, the unique set of tools called Vedanga's, Pratishakhya's have been provided to work with Veda. The present study violates this primary principle. The authority for performing this violation is traced to Max-Muller and the team. 3B: What is the tradition provided safeguard for Structural integrity of Vedic Document: The structural integrity of the vedic text document to the extent of a modification / change in accent on a single phoneme is not accepted by the traditional schools. There are strict rules. If we consider Panini, Patanjali, Yaska and other Pratishakhya writers as sensible and scholarly, all of them subscribe to this view. The rules for eight – modes of text recitation to assert the structural integrity of the document is given a good go bye, as it demands a serious exercise of mind-work to analyze; and cannot be passed on to computers. Contrary, western academic scholars pick only a convenient segment of Panini-Patanjali traditions that suit their preferential premise. This entire effort is like viewing through the wrong end of the telescope with lens cap closed; and compare the view with the patterns in a kaleidoscope. 3C: Who Owns Veda ?Who owes something to Vedas? : Veda is not owned by any one school. Veda is Divine. In the present case, the copy right notice goes for the Univ. Texas work reads : Copyright with the authors and Harvard Oriental Series. The electronic text may be used for research but not for commercial purposes. Does this mean `Digestion ` is complete and now the DNA of Veda is the DNA of a new school –Tradition ? 3D: What is Primary in Veda : Script anchor or Voice anchor : The firm position of tradition is ` Human Voice produced according to the Rule base provided by Vedangas' = Samskrutham Vakyam. Voice cultured by rules is the basis. Scripting is of a lower authority. This has been repeatedly endorsed in Panini-Patanjali – Yaska traditions. The current venture bypasses this standard of tradition. Then Substitutes it with cyber font based document of ***** . The acknowledgment is there that there are several problems to < identify and correct a range of errors in the electronic RV files. For example, several apparently random (transmission?) data errors were found. Several lines were found to be missing, and others were mis-numbered or duplicated.>. The restitution process is < Such errors, where identified, were corrected by hand.> This is arbitrary model of interference to the structural unity of the given document. 3E: Indian tradition of Vedic Tradition-Document transfer in voice mode destroyed the ` metrical forms of poems' called Veda ?? : This is absolute arrogance and highhandedness and feverish pitch of tertiary level `Digestion Process' ! The standout smear message is clear and loud : You Indians don't know ! Learn from Us, We will teach you what was your Tradition ? and What it should be in the future ? We will validate your tradition. Please read the tenor and tone of the extracted text below: < - The form in which the Rigveda was handed down by Indian tradition, the saṃhitÄ text, applied later rules of sound combination throughout that systematically destroyed the metrical form of the poems. These inappropriate combinations have to be resolved before the text can be read, and they frequently obscure meaning. For illustration of the many ways in which the later editorial process distorted and obscured the original, seesection 45.1 <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/eieol/vedol-9-X.html#Ved09_GP45_\ 01> of our online course on the language of the Rigveda, Ancient Sanskrit Online <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/eieol/vedol-0-X.html> . The approach taken by van Nooten and Holland to restore the original form of the poems was exclusively systematic. A precise set of procedures was applied, which owed their origin to suggestions made by a number of nineteenth-century Rigvedic scholars, among them Kuhn, Bollensen, Oldenberg, Grassmann, and E. Vernon Arnold. > These procedures were: 1.Restoration of lost syllables. 2.Vocalization of the semivowel. 3.Marking of disyllabic long vowels. 4. Vowel insertion 5.Correction of representation of "iva". 6Quantitative restoration. . 7.Use of the rest sign (midline dot). .. [An interlinear electronic edition, giving (a) the traditional saṃhitÄ text, (b) its ancient word-by-word analysis (the Pada 'word' text - but see below, 'Restoration or Conservation?'), and (c) the van Nooten and Holland metrically restored text in parallel, can be found on the TITUS website, providing a useful resource for study of the restoration process. Many of the corrections that we have made to van Nooten and Holland's text remain uncorrected on the TITUS website, and no doubt we shall have missed other errors identified by the TITUS editors. A complete list of our corrections is available upon request. ] 3F: Invitation for a review-debate to mainly Indian Vedic Traditional Scholarship ; Paving further way for Techno-Linguistic Digestion of Veda-Samskrutham : This invitation below is a clear call for traditional teams to make their ` introspection of in-house scholarship' and enter a ` time honored ` Poorva-paksha – Vaada –Siddhanta' process. This is a self survival or self-surrender situation. The traditional data-resource content for strengthening Sanskrit Computational Linguistics - the technology assault arm being used on Veda-Samskrutham for Techno-Linguistic Digestion is provided by Indian scholars and technology institutions. This is another syndrome of digestion process in advanced stage ! Self surrender and self destruction of deer desiring to be a part of Tigers DNA ! < Invitation to review the restoration changes : [The primary purpose of our online edition is to show the original linguistic and poetic style of the Rigveda, and to make the text accessible in this form and easy to read. In addition, as is to be expected of an innovative and highly complex piece of work, some errors remain in van Nooten and Holland's attempt. By putting the metrically restored text online we hope to facilitate its further improvement and correction by scholars; accordingly, scholars are invited to suggest further corrections using the "Send comments" e-mail link at the bottom of this or any other LRC web page, or by contactingKaren Thomson <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/general/facultyhomes/karen.html> directly. 3G: Legacy of the Digestion Process Tertiary syndromes manifesting clearly: Why such great desire for Techno-Digestion of Veda-Samskrutham? : The extract below is self explanatory. The wonder is how Indian scholarship so fuzzy about the accuracy of Veda tolerates this line of analysis ! (Great Compassion or Greater callousness of `So What' ? ). The still greater wonder is many of the ` staunch Hindus who brook no stone /cyber bit left out to impress their commitment to Bharath- the land of Sanatana Veda Dharma / Dharmakshetra which gave Bhagavad-Gita as the essence of Upanishads' don't even raise a little whimper or a finger on such assaults. The tertiary wonder is the most traditional Vedic scholars and brilliant Indian technologists working to force-fit and facilitate the Techno linguistic digestion of Sanskrit-Veda: a square peg to a round hole ( Three conferences in India already completed on this topic and the next one is due shortly). N.B. This section contains a brief discussion of some modern editorial revisions to the ancient texts, the loci of which are flagged in our text with a dagger (†) hotlinked to here. We owe the text that we have, in its two forms, to the painstaking editorial work of Max Müller in the middle of the nineteenth century. Although fully aware that neither the SaṃhitÄ nor the Pada was a true representation of the original, he argued against making any changes to them. "What would a Greek scholar give, if he could say of Homer that his text was in every word, in every syllable, in every vowel, in every accent, the same as the text used by Peisistratos in the sixth century B.C.!" (Vedic Hymns, Oxford, 1891, p.xlvi). In attempting a reconstruction of the original metrical form of these ancient poems van Nooten and Holland have departed from the form of the text that we have inherited from ancient scholastic tradition, according to the systematic procedure outlined above. In other respects, however, their edition of the Rigveda is conservative, and would meet with the approval of its primary editor. Van Nooten and Holland have not imported most of the conjectural readings of modern scholarship, with the exception of the revision throughout of the incongruous form u loká to uloká, an emendation which is based on strictly linguistic arguments. So that the reader can assess these conjectural readings (the different reading can be found in the TITUS version of the Pada text), they are briefly discussed below.] …. 1.G: All scholars however agree that at 1.070.07b ca rátham is an error for carátham. This was first pointed out by the nineteenth-century scholar Benfey, and acknowledged by Max Müller, although he could not approve making the correction, nor indeed any other: "although I have no doubt that the original poet said sthÄ túḥ carátham, I should be loath to suppress the evidence of the mistake and alter the Pada text fromca rátham to carátham. The very mistake is instructive, as showing us the kind of misapprehension to which the collectors of the Vedic text were liable, and enabling us to judge how far the limits of conjectural criticism may safely be extended" (op. cit. p. lxxiv). 3H: About The Linguistics Research Center (LRC), founded in 1961 at the University of Texas <http://www.utexas.edu/> , is an organized research unit in the College of Liberal Arts <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/> . For more information about the LRC, including our staff & associates, publications, current projects, a brief history mentioning past projects, and contact information including our office address and phone number, see:About the LRC <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/about/index.html> . This site contains thousands of web pages, most of them devoted to ancient Indo-European languages and cultures. (For novices, all Indo-European languages are descended from a common ancestral tongue called Proto-Indo-European, spoken about 5,000 years ago before the invention of writing. This language as such died out, leaving ten or more dialects that eventually evolved into the many Indo-European languages of recorded history and the present, for example Sanskrit, Greek, Latin, Russian, and English. For notes on the emergence in the late 18th century of the field of study that led to these and other discoveries, see:What is Historical Linguistics? <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/general/histling.html> ) This site is organized more or less as our projects are organized: * Books Online <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/books/index.html> , representing the complete texts of several books about Indo-European languages and historical linguistics authored or edited by our founder, Prof. Winfred P. Lehmann; * Early Indo-European Online <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/eieol/index.html> (EIEOL), sets of lessons about Indo-European languages representing almost every significant IE language family; * the Indo-European Documentation Center <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/iedocctr/> project, containing materials related to Indo-European culture, languages, linguistics, and publications; * an Indo-European Lexicon <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/ielex/index.html> , consisting of Proto-Indo-European etyma (roughly, 'words') with reflexes (etymologically derived words) in numerous Indo-European languages, especially English; * a large collection of Indo-European Maps <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/general/IE.html> , organized via an outline of the evolutionary process that led from Proto-Indo-European to Indo-European languages of the present; * a significant collection of old Indo-European Texts <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/ietexts/index.html> , most with English translations, which document interesting characteristics of the peoples who spoke those languages; * Publication Indices <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/indices/index.html> , which provide bibliographies of publications about Indo-European peoples and languages indexed by author and in various other ways. Links running beneath the banner of this and every other page on the LRC website lead to information About the LRC <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/about/index.html> , to extensive content developed by the major projects currently pursued at the Center, and to a SiteMap <http://www.utexas.edu/cola/centers/lrc/sitemap.html> that presents a 3-level outline of our website.
