I've been buying from Offgamers since 2015. My user status is currently Gold. This recent KYC verification has really pissed me off.
I've sent the selfie photo that they asked from my mobile phone 3 times. Upload from my mobile device stated that it was successful, but their web panel stated otherwise.
Live chat did not even offer me an alternative method to verify my account even if I asked several times. I refused to do the the selfie verification anymore.
It has been a good run, but I won't be coming back anytime soon. You've lost one customer in me.
Update (one day later):
An OffGamers rep responded to my review in other review sites and suggested that I send an email to support. I did so, and they verified my account manually. I didn't have to submit additional documents anymore.
Thank you for the assistance. I'll change my rating from 1 to 3. I still feel like I did not deserve to go through this ordeal.
Very poor business practices. The owner(s) of this site/business ask for way too much personal information and are extremely slow in acknowledging payment cancellations and/or refund requests.
I have received several emails asking me to visit their [Non-Existent?] 24/7 customer service where no questions are answered and the potential scammer run around begins.
I would advise against two things:
1. Expecting a full refund
2. Conducting real money transactions through companies like this one
I would also suggest playing games that do not require making payments through any third party offshore payment sites.
I tried my best to be patient and understanding of their new process but it took too long.
The verification for photos and selfies took multiple times and was requested to be retaken a day after the original verification documents were submitted (rinse and repeat).
Chat box was "helpful" but typical FAQ replies by different representatives. No help was really provided other than mention the change in processing but I was already aware of this.
I may try to purchase a product here again but then again I just compared a local gamestore's pricing to their "discounts" it actually cost's more because of their processing fee. And other websites have quicker and smoother transaction process.
Used to be my goto store for top-up cards.
until they hid an (eKYC) selfie request in my latest purchase. >> and I mean hid, no upfront warning about this before proceeding with the payment.
I use PayPal & other online wallets to have peace of mind and not bother with low-tier security and compliance of various webstores.
when reaching out to support was confronted with the routine canned responses online and straight-up no answer when phoning in.
now I'm left waiting up to 6 days from time of purchase to get my money back, instead of getting my iTunes card in 10 minutes like it was at (pre-Covid19 OffGamers).
Order required manual verification which took a long time even though I've been a customer for years. For some reason although there is a support team available 24/7, they're not able to process the verifications.
