Okay, you know it's pirated software, but you figure, hey, why should you pay all that money for the licensed stuff? Please remember you aren't buying a purse or a watch here, where the worst than can happen is that you've wasted your money on junk. You are putting executable software on your computer that you're getting from some guy who uses virus infected computers to send his spam and host his websites. You may be downloading something that will turn your computer into a spam-mailing zombie, pop up pornographic ads on your computer every time you open a web browser, mail the personal data from your last tax return to someone who will take out a few dozen credit cards in your name and sell the numbers on "carder" websites in Russia, collect your passwords when you log into your bank, participate in a distributed denial of service attack against a military target, or allow it to be the computer hosting the next al Queda decapitation video. You've got a lot more to lose than the cost of the software. The FBI is in the process of trying to get malicious software off one million computers in the US alone. None of the people who own those computers thought they were doing anything unsafe, either. For more information: Spam Wiki article on Euro Software ***** FBI's Operation Bot Roast *****
