The comments about this website are ridiculous. I find it hilarious how many people are actually talking about HFCS without even researching it. Why exactly are so many people saying things like "THIS WEBSITE IS ILLEGAL IT'S THE DURN GOVERMENT TRYIN' TO KEEP US FAT SO WE CAN'T REBEL", I even saw people say stuff like the people that run this website are "child predators" and another person saying, "whoever runs this website needs to be tried in court". On what grounds? For running a website that (in your opinion) isn't true? That's hardly illegal. Sugar is sugar. You know what else makes people fat? Plain old normal sugar. And also food. It's not more dangerous than anything else you could ingest, obviously if you ingest a ton of HFCS, you'll get fat eventually and it could lead to some health problems. But you know what also does the same thing? Table sugar. If you have a problem with "child obesity", then maybe the parents of those kids should stop giving the kids such unhealthy things. You can't just say "THESE KIDS ARE FAT CUZ OF HFCS!" Doesn't work that way. Just ridiculous.

It never surprises me how big industry will "sugar coat" poison to make a dollar. Just like the tobacco companies paid for "research" to give the public a warm fuzzy feeling about smoking, the CRA has their own paid panel of "experts" that mislead by omission. Fructose HAS been linked to liver damage, even in tiny amounts, which can lead to fatty liver, obesity, diabetes, kidney failure, and eventually early death. And just like an old potao chip commercial, you can't "eat just a little," because you are never satisfied. The more you eat, the more you crave, and that gets turned into fat immediately. The CRA knows the addictive nature of fructose, and the potential for high profits from overconsumption of foods made with it. I learned the hard way, and researched the subject through peer-reviewed scientific articles in my college library, but the trutjh is out there-all you have to do is think critically and don't trust a biased site like this. Fructose is in almost everything on the shelves in grocery stores in the USA, and other countries ban it in human food. I wonder if the "good" folks that wrote this site eat food laced with Fructose, and how healthy their bodies are if they do. Ask them yourself. Do your own RESEARCH! High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is the major contributor of disease and health problems in the USA (next to Smoking)! Anyone who says it's Okay is a LIAR! Due to the US Gov; USDA & FDA, imposing highTaxes & Tariffs on imported sugar in 1977 (thus spiking the price of sugar), HFCS became "thee" low-cost sweetener of choice by Food Processing Industry. HFCS is digested by the Liver; NOT the Intestines, thus NO glycemic spike; yet it causes a laundry list of serious health problems. Note the rapid deterioration of Health in the USA since 1977(due to obesity). HFCS is in everything from soft drinks to bread to ketchup! This site is nothing but a BS "PR" spin doctor repping the giant food manufacturers who make Billions on HFCS. By the way, we (USA Taxpayers) pay for susidizing the Corn Industry! Anyone (here or anywhere else) who says HFCS is good is LYING! And any comment here that say this site (and HFCS) are safe, probably work for those huge companies profiting from shoving HFCS down our throats!

Misguiding information that pretend the fructose is safe. Sure! As safe as tobacco against lung diseases. This site tries to blind consumers to trust big pharma and big government.

Looks to be a sight based on science not “FUD”. Good to get some real facts not the scare mongering you get from some other sights!

There is nothing wrong with the site as it presents good peer reviewed evidence that there is nothing wrong with HFCS compared to standard table sugar. Don't let the uneducated hipsters and hippies convince you otherwise with their urban myths that are not backed by any creditable evidence.

I must agree with ValerieVee. HFCS is not any more detrimental to a person's health than processed, refined sugar. Any sugar product which is used in excess amounts (including healthy fructose, which occurs naturally in all fruits and vegetables) can be harmful to human health. But, all of these sugars, when used in moderation, can be a part of a healthy diet and life-style. I believe the dissenters here need to stop believing everything they read or hear and do some in-depth research, as I have done, using some reputable, non-government sponsored, medically professional websites. The findings may surprise them.

I came across the site actually through a YouTube video "Today's Modern Food: It's not what you think - Part 1 of 2" and was surprised when WOT told me it was dangerous. It is safe to look at and contains NO malware or phishing attempts. YES IT IS SAFE TO VISIT. but, like the old law term goes "Buyer Beware" so read your labels when food shopping and drink shopping (including and especially those "low-cal" foods and drinks). . That being said I was tempted to rate it green but there is no rating for safe and I do not wish to rate it as good because I myself am not 100% sure of their claims. I have ended up rating it as useful, informative because it does give us some information, even if there is word play. High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is known to mix better and costs a lot less for the companies. I guess the problem is in how the body metabolises it or the absorption rate. This is what I read on a blog ***** : "HFCS is made of mostly glucose and fructose which means it is rapidly absorbed by your body, resulting blood sugar spikes and a high glycemic index of ***** Organic sugar is made of pesticide-free sucrose and is more slowly absorbed, resulting in a glycemic index of 47/100." Oddly enough I just watched a video made by a model who ate processed pre-packaged foods (they use HFCS) and diet drinks for a month and had a nutritionist and a doctor keep tabs and follow with tests that seem to verify that the rate it is absorbed IS a problem. However reading the sweetsurprise.com FAQ I do believe they are misleading people so that their profits do not falter. I also checked the wiki on HFCS and it says "High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS)—also called glucose-fructose syrup in the UK, glucose/fructose in Canada, and high-fructose maize syrup in other countries—comprises any of a group of corn syrups that has undergone enzymatic processing to convert some of its glucose into fructose to produce a desired sweetness." ***** The sweetness does make me wonder if it is equivalent to artificial sweeteners where the body tastes the sweetness but doesn't get as much energy as it is expecting and people tend to eat more. However I would think with HFCS is it different because you are getting energy from it. But what ever the facts are, I am only here rating because WOT is used to tell us if a site is safe to visit. YES IT IS SAFE TO VISIT. However, when it comes to concerns over any site's views on any product, it is like I have learned back in law school: BUYER BEWARE! Use your own common sense. Research. Make your own blog if you want to tell the world your thoughts but this is NOT what WOT is for. The sweetsurprise.com site, as much as I don't believe in all that they are saying on it, is infact 100% safe to view.

Highly misleading.

An amazing degree of ignorance is displayed by hater-raters here. This kind of pseudoscience nonsense (the raters, not this site) have really diminished WOTS value for me.
1
Nothing wrong with this site to give it a RED warning. The only reason it has been rated this way is because many people don't like or agree with the subject.
3
The Site is full of lies, why would they do a million dollar ad campaign if there was nothing wrong with it? Genetically modified corn has no way to predict how it reacts with a person. And on top of that, sulfuric acid and mercury is not safe to digest/eat. Think before you eat.
2
lies all lies this website was created to FOOL people into thinking that his product is safe and natural but they are lying to all of us.HFCS causes diabetes fact how can they call it natural to make it you have to slit the atoms on a cellular level it is POISON.
1
"There is no scientific evidence to suggest that high fructose corn syrup is uniquely responsible for people becoming obese" - no, but there is scientific evidence to suggest that high fructose corn syrup is 'primarily' responsible for people becoming obese.
2
Another sign of corporate America trying to mislead the public.
4
Promoted by corporate interests, this site pushes HFCS, known to be a causative factor in child obeisity, which is epidemic in the US. These people are CHILD PREDATORS and should be treated as such.

Malicious content.

From the first sentence I knew this was all lies!! Go to any true ethical health web site and they explain how bad this crap really is. I truly dont believe in censorship but this site should be closed down & the promoters should be tried by a court of jurors of the people who are on this page.
