What is a Trusted Source?
WOT incorporates automated scorecard references from various partners known as Trusted Sources.
The Scorecard reference is added when the partner's database include an entry and when the partner's database removes an entry, WOT's scorecard removes the reference. Inclusion / removal is not immediate, it takes about 24 hours for entries to appear or disappear after WOT has received notification from the source provider.
How Trusted Sources influence the reputation of a website
When computing ratings, trusted sources that are added to a scorecard have a different weight according to their reliability. This weight is manually assigned and depends on how data is collected and verified by the trusted source itself. For example, trusted sources that are fully automated and have a large number of false positives are considered less reliable than trusted sources whose data are verified by real people.
