Is berkeley.edu Safe?

Berkeley is believed to be a reputable university in Cali. I really wanted to enroll here just because my friends advised me. You know, with education from here, I would be able to find a well-paid job and grow as a professional in the field of mine. Oh! I am into chemistry and there is a nice program perfectly matching my skills and expectations. I haven't enrolled yet, but they do really look interesting. I am afraid that it would be too expensive, because the status = expensive.
